What is the difference between cash, debit, and other Amazon receipts?

Learn the difference between cash, debit, credit, and activation receipts for Amazon gift cards and how each affects your rate.

The receipt type for an Amazon gift card refers to the payment method used when the card was purchased in-store.

Cash receipt

The card was purchased with cash. This is indicated on the receipt with "cash" listed as the payment method. This carries the best rate on Cardtonic.

Debit receipt

The card was purchased with a debit or ATM card. This is indicated on the receipt with "debit" listed as the payment method.

Credit card, Mastercard, or Visa receipt

The card was purchased with a credit card. This is indicated on the receipt with the specific card type (credit, Mastercard, or Visa) listed as the payment method. This carries a lower rate than cash and debit receipts.

Activation receipt

This confirms that a gift card was successfully activated. It shows activation details rather than a payment method, and it is not a purchase receipt. It cannot be used as proof of payment for trading purposes.

Please note: Always select the receipt type that matches what you actually have. Selecting the wrong receipt type will result in a rejected trade.
