Gift card providers require gift cards to be activated before use to prevent theft.

When you buy a gift card in-store, it will be activated upon payment. Ecodes are also activated after purchase.

If your gift card was not purchased through the correct channel or was not activated properly, it will not work.

To resolve this, simply go to the store and report the issue.
